Each of the configured router IP settings serves different purposes. The firstIP settings is the subnet mask used to configure the location of this computer. This address is used to determine which network interfaces should be seen on the network connection. The second IP setting is the public proxy server that can be used to hide your real IP address.

Setting the username and the password are simple and straightforward. It usually starts with the network name or IP address of the computer on which the router will be connected. By typing the appropriate username into the "Edit" field, the user will be able to enter his or her details for accessing the router. Remember that the default word for the username is "root".

The next step is to choose a strong password for the administrator page of the router. The suggested password is one that cannot be easily guessed. The same goes for the forgotten username entry. A simple method to avoid these problems is to memorize the commonly used usernames such as "administrator", "webmaster", "mailman", etc. You also need to create a unique user ID and assign this user ID to your account.

After all the required configuration has been done, you can continue to the step 2. In the step 2, you have to enter the IP address of the other machine that you are going to use to connect to the router. The IP address is usually added in the header part of an IP packet that you get from your internet connection provider.

After all the required IP addresses have been entered, you should close all the programs that you are currently running. This will ensure that all the programs are properly unplugged so that nothing will conflict in the process of making the router into a fully operational machine. Then, you should power the router down. Then, you should plug in the reset Ethernet cable into the reset port on the backside of the router.
